Berean Baptist Church had her beginning on December 20, 1942, as a mission
Sunday School through First Baptist Church of Eugene.
Berean was an extension of First Baptist during the first fourteen
years, then, on May 6, 1954, was granted independence.
There were 184 members constituting the membership of Berean at
this time.
Berean has experienced many phases of growth
and development since she began her start sixty-one years ago.
In 1958, the church became affiliated with the Conservative Baptist
Association of Oregon and America, and that same year “Operation
Nehemiah”, the building of a Sunday School addition to the main
building, was begun. A major project to remodel the sanctuary was completed in
1991, and in the fall of 1992, a new building addition began that has
since been completed.
God had been faithful to Berean and her members throughout the
years, and as membership grew, so did the need for more building space.
Under the leadership of one of Berean’s pastors in the 1980’s, several new
programs were implemented including AWANA and the Navigator
2:7 discipleship series.
On July 1, 1994, Pastor Mike Jaskilka began
his ministry as pastor of Berean and is still here today.
He has worked with the Board of Elders to give the church a greater
outward focus and to clarify the church's vision for the future.
